Which course should I take?

EmergingEd offers online courses designed for professionals with varying levels of expertise and experience in leading tech disciplines. You may choose to begin with a foundational course in your chosen subject area, or you may feel that you are ready for a more in-depth dive into actionable skills. You may find that some courses are more effective when taken in sequence, but all courses are open-enrollment, with no prerequisites.

Use each course description as a test to determine your fit. Consider how our courses offer specific skills and knowledge that can enable you to meet your goals, whether you want to advance in your job, stay relevant and up to date, or make a change in your career. If you are not sure, please contact customer support. Our trained staff can consult with you to help you make the right choice.

What is EmergingEd’s refund policy?

You may request a 100 percent refund of tuition up to 11:59 p.m. CT on the first date of the course. After the first date of the course, no refund will be granted.

All refunds are processed within 30 days of the request date. You are expected to provide full documentation, as described in our Terms of Use, at the time of withdrawal to request a refund. Failure to notify customer support in writing of withdrawal may delay refund of tuition.

We may modify our refund policy at any time with or without specific notice to you; provided, however, that the refund policy in effect at the time of any transaction shall apply to such purchase despite any subsequent change in such policy. Please call us at +1-888-311-4933 to request a refund.

I signed up for a course that will start in a few weeks, but now I need to change my start date. What do I need to do?

Please reach out to our customer support team at support@emerginged.com or +1-888-311-4933 for assistance in changing to the next available course start.

Policies and Procedures

Once I'm enrolled in a course, how much time do I have to complete it?

Course length is listed for each course. You will be able to submit assignments for two additional weeks after the course ends to receive your badge and will have access to the course for six months after the course end date to download resources. After six months, your access will be removed.

For courses that are continuous enrollment: You will have 6 months from date of purchase to fully complete the course.

Can I work ahead or do I need to stay on track each week?

EmergingEd courses are designed to flexibly fit around the busy schedules of working professionals. For this reason, you may work ahead with readings, video content, practice exercises and quizzes.

There are assignments in each module that have deadlines and class discussions to support peer-to-peer engagement and networking. We highly recommend that you keep up with your course's week-to-week pacing to not fall behind.

What happens if I don't complete the course within the allotted time frame?

You must complete your course within two weeks from the course end date. If you do not complete all work for your course, your final score will be calculated based on the work completed and turned in. To successfully complete the course, you must earn an overall score of 80 percent or higher.* You may retake a course if you wish, but this would require you to pay again and start the course at its beginning with a new cohort.

*If you are affiliated with a university, please confirm the passing score with a customer support representative.

What if I miss a deadline? Can I get an extension?

Unfortunately, we do not offer extensions if you miss an assignment deadline. Late assignments will be given a 10 percent deduction in completion score. Any incomplete assignments will be given a zero two weeks after the course end date.

I see a due date and time for assignments in my course. Are these times set to my own time zone? If not, can I change the time zone in Canvas to reflect my local time?

All dates and times throughout your Canvas courses are displayed according to the course's time zone, which for EmergingEd is Central time. However, you can set your own time zone in your user account and have important dates and times displayed in your local time zone throughout your course. Displaying dates and times in your local time may help you stay up to date on assignments and due dates, especially if your course’s time zone differs significantly from where you reside.

How are groups assigned?

Groups are randomly assigned to facilitate interacting with a diverse set of peers.

When do I receive my digital badge?

You will receive an email allowing you to claim your digital badge upon successful completion of the course. To successfully complete a course, you must earn an overall completion score of 80 percent or higher. If you are affiliated with a university, please confirm the passing score with a customer support representative.

Are EmergingEd courses available in my state?

Currently, all EmergingEd courses are available in each state.

What is an open badge?

Open badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified in real time, online.

How does my certification get displayed as a badge?

We have partnered with Credly to translate the learning outcomes you’ve demonstrated into a badge, issued and managed through the company’s platform. The technology Credly uses is based on the Open Badge Standards maintained by IMS Global. This enables you to manage, share and verify your competencies digitally.

Digital Badges

What are the benefits of a badge?

Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of. Credly’s platform also offers labor market insights, based on your skills. You can search and apply for job opportunities right through the platform.

Who is Credly?

Credly is the end-to-end solution for issuing and managing digital credentials. Credly works with credible organizations to provide digital credentials to individuals worldwide.

How will I know if I’ve earned a badge?

You will receive an email notification from Credly with instructions for claiming your badge and setting up your account.

What if I don’t want my badge to be public?

You can easily configure your privacy settings in the platform. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.

Is there a fee to use Credly’s Platform?

No. This is a service we provide to you at no cost.

What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?

While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.

Where and how can I share my badge through Credly?

You can share your badge directly from Credly to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook; over email; embedded in a website; or in your email signature.

What are labor market insights and how can I access them through Credly?

Labor market insights are pulled from live job requisitions. Based on your skills, you can learn which employers are hiring, what job titles you might be qualified for, salary ranges and more. Search active job listings and even apply for them with just a few clicks through the platform. Access the labor market insights from your badge details page by clicking on Related Jobs, or by clicking on the skill tags assigned to your badge.

Can I export badges issued through Credly to other badge-storing platforms?

Yes, you can download your badge from the Share Badge page. Your downloaded badge contains Open Badge Infrastructure (OBI)-compliant metadata embedded into the image. This allows you to store your badge on other OBI-compliant badge sites, such as the Badgr Backpack.

Can I import badges issued from other platforms into Credly?

Not at this time.

I have a question about Credly. Where can I find support?

You can find answers to frequently asked questions at https://support.credly.com/hc/en-us.

Customer Support and Technical Support

What happens if I have a question during class?

Technical and logistical questions should be submitted to customer support via the help menu in the learning management system. Questions can also be submitted via live chat from the EmergingEd website or email at support@emerginged.com. Customer support can be reached via phone at +1-888-311-4933 during regular business hours in the Central time zone. Canvas also offers 24-hour technology support, which can be accessed through the help menu as well.

What is the page rating tool that pops up when I am in Canvas?

The page rating tool is a tool that appears on every page in a course. You may give each page a rating from 1 to 5 stars and leave a comment to provide feedback about the learning experience. This feedback is used to improve the course experience.

However, the page rating tool is not a good channel through which to submit a request for help. Please reach out to customer support through normal channels if you need assistance.

Are EmergingEd courses accessible outside of the United States?

Yes, however some course materials may be blocked in certain countries if you do not use a VPN, which could cause intermittent service issues. Please contact customer support with any additional questions.

Are EmergingEd courses accessible on mobile devices?

While you can sign into your EmergingEd courses on any web-connected device, some features are not fully accessible on mobile interfaces. For the best experience, we strongly recommend using a web browser on a notebook or desktop computer to access your courses.

I'm having technical issues with my course. Who do I contact?

Please contact Canvas support through the help menu once you are logged into Canvas or by calling +1-833-396-6228.

Are there any support resources for students with learning difficulties or physical disabilities?

Students requiring accommodations should notify EmergingEd as soon as such needs arise. Students are responsible for making their needs known in writing to a customer support associate and seeking assistance when required. Reasonable accommodations will be made on an individual basis when possible. Information supplied by a student seeking accommodations regarding his or her disability is voluntary and confidential. Any information shared will be communicated internally among EmergingEd staff to reasonably accommodate a student’s disability.
